The New England Patriots have won eleven straight AFC East titles, and seventeen since 2000. The Buffalo Bills have not been the top dog, since 1995. As the Bills look at up the Patriots year in and year out, they will have a golden opportunity in 2020. Tom Brady has bolted New England for the sunny beaches of Tampa Bay and left Bill Belichick with Jarod Stidham to man the falling dynasty.
Buffalo earned a wildcard in 2019 NFL playoffs and ended up losing the game in Houston but their defense remains the key for 2020. Josh Allen returns and the Bills added Stefon Diggs from the Vikings to compliment John Brown. Winning in the NFL ultimately comes down to quarterback play, and for the first time in many years, the Bills might have the best QB in the division.
The Belichick Patriots say they are happy with Jarod Stidham, whose NFL stat line looks like a bad series. 2-4, 14 yards and an interception. Everyone thought the Patriots would draft a QB but they opted to try and build on the other side of the ball using their first three picks on defense. Is Belichick really going to tackle the 2020 and the NFL’s hardest schedule with Stidham at the helm? Could Cam Newton be wearing Patriot colors in September?
Sam Darnold had some moments in New York, but is this franchise moving in the right direction? They don’t scare you on paper but shouldn’t be the worst team in the division. The key for the Jets will depend on how many good moments Darnold has in 2020?
With the youngest roster in 2019, the Dolphins may hold on to the top spot in that category in 2020. This is a true rebuild, and with eleven picks in the 2020 draft they continue to get younger. They hope they found their next franchise quarterback in Tua Tagovailoa, but the wins just won’t be there in 2020.
